It’s those three little words women love to hear.  Just the whisper of those three little words can send shivers down her spine.  Three little words that, after a long, hot dryspell can excite a girl like no others.  Just say it.  Make her happy.  Say it!

“BACK TO SCHOOL”

See! What did I tell ya? Goosebumps, shivers and all.  It doesn’t work for me though.  Most moms love to hear those words, but I just don’t love “Back To School” as much as some moms I know.  I am excited for my kids to go back to school because they enjoy school and they get excited when it’s time for school to start up again, but I always lament the end of those crazy days of summer.

For one, I’m not a scheduler and I really don’t like adhering to any sort of schedule.  I like to wing it, fly [...]

ok thats a lie…i’m blogging about not blogging!!! i’m lame i know
well went away on a retreat this past week, which was not much of a retreat to be honest. the place was beautiful as you can see from the picture… but i was up tossing and turning all night both nights not getting any rest. it hit me the second night, i wasn’t needing to get away from work and my surroundings i was needing to get away from myself… from my dreams and hopes and aspirations… and realize that even though i have the light of Christ we walk (i walk) in a lot of darkness in our lives
i came across a prayer and verse that were huge for me the past week. the verse is Isaiah 50.10 “he who walks in darkness, to whom no light apears, let him trust in the NAME of YAHWEH,  let him [...]

Over the past few decades, the United States has steadily evolved from a nation of ‘producers’ to one of ‘consumers’. The change has been celebrated by politicians and economists as proof of America’s arrival at the top of the global economic food chain. In reality, the development has depleted the nation of its hard-earned wealth, and has led us to the brink of ruin.

But rather than encouraging a return of America’s productive energy, our government is responding to the growing economic crisis by simply trying to boost consumerism at all costs. Their strategy involves socializing losses among all citizens so that the depletion can’t be easily discerned.
Now that the nation has chosen socialism as its economic salvation, it is worthwhile to examine some historic precedents. They are not encouraging. Europe, the former Soviet block and much of Africa and Asia, show vividly that socialism curbs individual freedom [...]

artemis corrupted refers to artemis, the goddess of the moon and hunt. her vows of celibacy, and her love of nature set her apart from the other promiscuous and worldly deities…
corrupted? well maybe she led a secret double life…where she was everything she ever claimed not to be…
the girl at the top of the page is me.
today, i love blueberries, music, badminton, showers, off the shoulder shirts.
tonight, i look forward to watching the newest mummy, getting some late night food, and having ridiculously hot and steamy sex in the back of a car on the side of a road. if fogging up windows were an art, i would be renowned the world over.
tomorrow, i want to find a place that has good crepes…
i also need to find in nor cal all the things i took for granted in so cal.
ie. a manicurist, a hair stylist, and a brazilian wax specialist.

for this and this
there is no other logical explanation for the sudden coming of WINTER in JULY other than her posting about how gloriously hot and sunny is has been and was forcast to be
are you scared Sarah?  you should be* … Maggie and Scout have your number and they are highly trained professionals
now excuse me while I re-ignite the pilot on my fireplace and find some wool socks

*lest you be afraid that I bear actual malice to the lovely Ms. Marchildon and am threatening her, don’t be silly - she is a dear friend (but must be punished for jinxing our summer!!)

For a while there I really thought that I had moved beyond that whole “being profoundly broke and not being able to pay bills thing”. Turns out, I was wrong. I am perpetually wrong. This evening I get my bank statement to find that I have blown through all that I had saved up, leaving me a ultra charming $62 in my account. Please note, rent is due tomorrow. Oh, that’s right, and I have TWO of them this month.
Turns out that when you figure in the variables and do the math of ‘leave previous job in mid June therefore having NO money coming in for five weeks + go on a two week vacation + spend lots of money on travel and weddings + move and spend lots of money setting up new place + paying two rents + two sets of bills + still no paycheck from new [...]
