I am always the first to defend the UK, when my fellow Americans scoff at the weather. Even the last night of the Olympics showed British people parading around with umbrellas. It was funny, but I always say it rains as much in London a year as it does in Manhattan. I say we have had some scorching summers in the past, so much so Easyjet would exclaim, “Welcome to tropical Luton!” I take it all back now, the past two summers here in the UK have been atrocious. There has only been 1 month in total over the past two summers of nice weather. Nice meaning over 70 degrees and mostly sunny.
Everyone is always speaking about the hurricanes and floods in the US, but this is the second summer where Northern England, the west country, basically anyone living around the British Isles have lost their homes. Thousands are sleeping [...]
I mentioned previously that I am a minimalist. It means I can pack up my stuff and move out of my condo in an hour, literally.
I’m not tied down by long leases, sales & purchase agreements, appreciation and depreciation, and a compulsion to have ‘roots’ in the ground. There are pros and cons to this obviously but in my situation, I need the mobility. I keep having to tell my mom I can’t fly like a bird when I’ve got baggage and stuff coming out of my ears. (yup she still can’t understand me, he he).
This is my idea of simple living.
And that’s how my place looks like, minus the shoji screen. Except when I use my notebook, I sit on the floor, even when I’m digging into my instant noodles and watching TV. .
My bedroom’s got nothing too.
The bed’s foldable and except for a little table for some [...]
I have the song “Have you ever been mellow” by Olivia Newton John in my head. How do I get it out of there!?
Anna has an upper respitory cold. She went to the vet this morning. I am sure she got it from the beast. I told the vet all about that and she checked Anna over. Anna has had elevated liver enzymes for 3 years (should be 100 her’s is 340!) but she is healthy so we will leave it. Anna turned 9 this past weekend.
The weekend was restful. My world is calming back down! Which makes me happy. I did buy me 2 new outfits on Friday. I needed to feel pretty and confident. I forgot I had an Ann Taylor gift card from my birthday so I got a way cute skirt/shirt/earring combo. Then I went to Old Navy and got 2 new shirts and cool shoes.
Hubby has [...]
No Comment. Me so spisciato a vedello conciato così…
Ps. Quanto rulla Angus, altro che Terminator.
For all my talk about not judging people by their exteriors, I should be labeled a big fat hypocrite. I should be hung out to dry. I honestly don’t see people’s exterior stuff for the most part. It doesn’t play into my heart-felt impressions of a person ninety-nine point nine percent of the time. Not race, not weight, height, sexual orientation, shoes, or the fact that they may be chewing on the flesh of an abused animal. I look at people’s eyes, I listen to what they say, I try to see where they hang their hearts. And then it all goes to shit when I see the first of the forty thousand University students flooding back in, increasing the population of my midwestern college town by another third. It takes one pair of Dolce&Gabbana sunglasses to set my teeth on edge. It’s the attitude — “I own the fucking [...]
An Egyptian woman has given birth to a set of septuplets in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, in what doctors termed “a miracle,” the official MENA news agency reported on Saturday.
Ghazala Ibrahim Omar, 27, delivered four boys and three girls following a C-section six weeks before her due date in an Alexandria hospital, MENA reported.
“It’s really a miracle, (the mother) had taken no stimulants during ovulation,” said Ahmed Salam, the gynaecologist who headed the team which delivered the babies, quoted by MENA.
According to the hospital director, the seven babies weighed between two and three kilograms (4.4 to 6.6 pounds) each at birth and have been put in incubators.
